Howdy! I’m Spencer.
I write stories about complicated families, unexpected love, and the places that change us—emotionally, geographically, occasionally with wine.
My debut novel, DEAR MARGOT, is a love letter to grief, growth, and what happens when you stop doing what's expected and start doing what's next. I write emotionally layered, voice-driven women's fiction and contemporary romance, and I own more hats than any one person reasonably needs (according to my husband). They're proudly displayed on the wall of my office, which is how I justify keeping all of them.
I studied English and creative writing in college, where I concentrated in nonfiction—which probably explains why pieces of my real life keep sneaking into my novels.
When I'm not writing fiction, I spend my days helping people tell their own stories—whether that's interviewing for their dream job, mentoring early-career professionals, or helping fellow authors shape their novels.
When I'm not writing or working, I'm usually hanging out with my husband and our two cats (all three are deeply weird and perfect), sampling from my ever-expanding wine collection, or bowling competitively with my team, The Bowled & The Beautiful. We're currently on a temporary hiatus while we learn mahjong. (If you have any good mahjong puns, we're all ears. Mahjong teams are a thing...right?)
If my stories leave you wanting to call someone you love, book a flight, or order another glass of wine, I've done my job.
I hope you stay awhile.
fun facts!
I love hotel slippers, animal encounters, and collecting merch from national parks.
If I were a fictional character, I’d either be David Rose or a hobbit — yes, I know those are very different vibes.
I have very strong opinions about unsanctioned fireworks, glassware, and what counts as Yacht Rock music.
If there’s a scenic train ride, I’m building the itinerary around it.
